Eleven short guides: one for every treatment we carry out, plus general advice for any appointment. Each one tells you what is normal, what to do in the first few hours, what to avoid, and the signs that mean you should ring us rather than wait.
Whatever treatment you have had, please ring the practice on 020 7272 1262 without waiting if any of the following happen. You will never be a nuisance for checking.
We are open Monday to Saturday. If we are closed and you need urgent advice, call 111. For a life-threatening emergency, always call 999.
One guide for each treatment we offer, plus general advice that applies to any appointment. Your dentist will point you to the right one, and reception can print it for you.
Start with general care. It covers numbness, painkillers, salt water rinses, brushing and smoking, which is most of what matters whatever we have done.
The everyday appointments, and how your gums feel for a few days afterwards.
Tender gums, some sensitivity and a little bleeding when you brush are all normal for a few days. Here is how to settle it.
Numbness, painkillers, salt water rinses, brushing and smoking. The advice that applies whatever we have done.
Anything we have rebuilt, replaced or covered over.
Eating, sensitivity to cold, and how long a new filling takes to feel like your own tooth again.
Looking after a temporary while you wait, then the first days with the permanent one fitted.
Bonding is strong but not indestructible. The habits that keep the edges neat and the colour bright.
Root treatment, surgery and urgent visits, where the first twenty-four hours matter most.
Why the tooth feels tender to bite on for a few days, and why it usually needs a crown next.
The healing timeline week by week, keeping the site clean, and what must not be disturbed.
Protecting the clot, controlling bleeding, and the difference between a normal ache and something wrong.
Results that depend on what you do at home, not only on what we do in the chair.
The forty-eight hour rule on staining foods, managing sensitivity, and how to keep the shade.
Rubbing, what not to eat, cleaning around brackets, and why retainers are for life.
Twenty-two hours a day, cleaning them properly, and what to do if one cracks or goes missing.
If you only remember four things after any appointment, make it these.
Take what you would normally take for a headache, following the packet, and take it before the anaesthetic wears off rather than waiting for pain. Avoid aspirin after any surgery, as it can encourage bleeding. Never put a painkiller directly on the gum.
From the day after treatment, rinse gently with a teaspoon of salt in a mug of warm water, several times a day and especially after eating. Let it fall out of your mouth rather than spitting hard.
Carry on brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, even where it feels tender. Work around the treated area gently rather than avoiding your mouth altogether, which lets plaque build up when you can least afford it.
Smoking is the single biggest reason healing goes wrong after dental treatment, and it raises the risk of infection and implant failure. Stopping for even a few days after treatment makes a real difference.
Never worry alone, and never wait to see if it settles. Ring us and we will either reassure you on the phone or see you.

Call us on 020 7272 1262The short answer is that it depends on you. Here is how we work it out together, and why regular visits are about far more than a quick look.

Seeing us regularly means we catch small issues while they are still small and inexpensive to fix. It also lets us keep an eye on your gums and give advice tailored to you.
Some people are fine once a year, others benefit from more frequent visits. At your appointment we will suggest a schedule that fits your teeth and your life, and explain why.
However well a practice is run, sometimes things go wrong or are not explained well enough. This page tells you exactly how to raise a concern with us, what we will do about it, and who to go to if you are still not happy.
Your dental records are some of the most personal information anyone holds about you. This policy explains what we hold, why we need it, who sees it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it.
The practical agreement between us: how appointments and cancellations work, how fees, estimates and payment are handled, and what this website can and cannot tell you.
What we have done to make this website and the practice usable for everyone, what we know is not yet good enough, and the adjustments we are glad to make if you ask.
We would always rather hear from you than not. If any part of your care, your treatment or your visit has not been right, please tell us. We take every concern seriously, we will look into it properly, and raising a concern will never affect the care you receive from us.
This procedure follows the standards set by the General Dental Council for handling patient complaints in private dental practice.
Most concerns are sorted out quickly and informally. If something is worrying you, please speak to the person looking after you at the time, or ask to speak to our Practice Manager. Often a short conversation is all it takes.
You can complain in person, by telephone, by email or in writing, and you may ask someone to complain on your behalf. If you are complaining for somebody else, we will need their written consent before we can share any details of their care with you.
Please raise a complaint within twelve months of the event, or within twelve months of becoming aware of it. We will still do our best to help outside that period where it is practical and fair to do so.
It helps us if you can tell us what happened, when it happened, who was involved, and what you would like us to do about it.
Your complaint is treated confidentially and handled in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018 and our duty of confidentiality. It is recorded separately from your clinical notes wherever possible, and shared only with the people who genuinely need to see it, which may include our dental indemnity provider or legal advisers. Please see our privacy policy for more detail.
We would much rather resolve things with you directly, but you have every right to take your complaint further, and there are independent bodies that will look at it free of charge.
Feedback is not only for when things go wrong. If a member of the team has looked after you well, or you have an idea that would make the practice better, we would genuinely like to hear it.

These terms explain how we work together: what this website is and is not, how appointments and cancellations are handled, how fees and payment work, and the limits of our responsibility. By using this website, or by attending an appointment with us, you accept these terms. Nothing here takes away your legal rights as a consumer or patient.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 our services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time, and for a reasonable price where none has been agreed. If we fall short you may be entitled to have the work put right or to a price reduction.
Where you enter into an agreement with us at a distance, for example by telephone, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you fourteen days to change your mind. As a private dental practice we are not covered by the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018, but we hold ourselves to the same standard, and we have duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people.
We would rather be honest than claim perfection.
If you have a mobility need, a sensory impairment, or anything else that would make a visit harder, please tell us when you book. We will plan around it rather than expect you to manage on the day.
If what you need is not listed here, ask anyway. We will do what we reasonably can.
If you cannot use part of this website, or something at the practice made your visit harder than it should have been, please contact us.
